Understanding Laws And Governance.
Having no regulations to guide and prevent people from doing some activities makes the environment very uncomfortable as people will not live in peace. The hostility can be related to humans always wanting everything to themselves. This would prove so hard for some individuals to survive. Laws need to exist to enable people to live peacefully.
Man is deemed to have been living in this condition of lawlessness. People always thought of how they could survive and this meant even going to an extent of destroying others. With their knowledge, some figures in society decided to end the injustice. These people came up with laws they thought were good for the people. The people had to surrender their freedom and rights to a governing body called the government and in return people could get protection. Many people were for this idea and that is how these scholars believe laws came into existence.
A law is a written or unwritten system of rules that is used to govern a particular society or community with the objective of bringing people together and living for the good. Laws cannot be self-implemented and are thus overseen by a body of people considered to have studies and know it. The law directs people on how they should live alone and with others. Laws also act as some guide of behavior. Law basically keep people from doing what is wrong. Breaking the law means that sanctions are introduced to the individual who breaks it.
When people hear of laws, what comes to their mind first is a country. Countries and governments have laws that govern them, the same applies to religion, the sporting world also has laws that govern them, companies and organizations also have rules and regulations that every worker in the company and anyone who interacts with them should adhere to.
Law has branches and here are some of the main branches.;
The relationship between the people and the government is defined by a set of laws known as public laws.
In order to prevent people from doing wrong to one another, there are a set of laws that help in this.
Negative sanctions are administered and dictated by a set of laws known as criminal laws.
Substantive law is the branch of law that defines what is wrong and how to handle a situation and what can be done to avoid the wrong.
We also have international law which is basically a law that defines how countries in the world over should exist in harmony and what could be done to a state that goes against this. International bodies have been formed to help in overseeing that no international law is broken and that offenders are punished.
The judicial system is the legal body that is tasked with translating and interpreting laws.
