High-efficient LED Light Bulbs.
Devices that generate light from electricity and are quite important in warming dark areas are referred to as light bulbs. LED light bulbs and compact fluorescent (CFs) light bulbs are some of the commonly used light bulbs.LED light bulbs are solid-state lighting devices that are capable of fitting in standard screw-in connections and they utilize LED. LEDs are basically light emitting diodes utilized in light bulbs to produce light. The diode is a semiconducting chip that is able to produce visible light once electric current pass through it. Fluorescent bulbs filled with argon gas and a small amount of mercury are employed for use in compact fluorescent light bulbs. Argon gas and mercury in the fluorescent lamb are hit by negatively charged electrons produced when the cathode is heated. The excited mercury produces ultraviolet light (UV) which is not visible. Visible light is the emitted when the UV light passes through phosphor that coats the fluorescent lamb. LED light bulbs are therefore considered to be more environmentally friendly alternative as they do not use mercury which is toxic.
LED light bulbs are way more energy efficient form of lighting as compared to CFs. CFs light bulbs are not instant on light bulbs once switched on but require more time for heating the cathode to generate electrons so that they can light up. Durability of LED light bulbs is key as they are not made out of glass other they are made of plastics which is highly durable. Thy work quite well in cold weather. LED and CFs light bulbs have the same lighting conditions although the LEDs last longer as use less energy making them cost effective.
Lumen of light bulb should be one of the major consideration other than wattage during purchase of the LED light bulbs. Measurement of the brightness given off by a light bulb is what is referred to as lumen while the wattage is the measurement of the amount of energy a light bulb draws. CFs and LED light bulbs could have the same number of lumens but the wattage of CFs would be higher than that of LEDs. The right color of Led light bulb should be considered since they have a wide color range and where the bulb will be used. Kelvins are the measurement units for color temperature and a lesser number shows a yellower color. LED light bulbs require a direct current electrical power hence LED driver is required to convert the alternating current from the power supply.
Improved LED light bulbs have been developed with better efficiency, cost and output making them suitable for all environments. LED light bulbs should be checked for compatibility for use in fixtures during installation as heat build-up can cause light bulb failure or even fire.
